Selection of Process
As the selection is done to select the best person for the company, there is a step by step process followed for selecting the person. Here, the selection process is explained thoroughly:
It is the basic interview. Because the company cannot select every person, they take a primary interview to identify potential candidates. This type of interview is also called a screening interview. In this interview, very basic questions are asked to the candidate and depending on their answers the HR either select or rejects them. A list of questions prepared by the HR and all or some of them are asked to the candidate. It is generally taken to eliminate the people that are not at all fit for the job or do not meet the eligibility requirement.
This interview can be on the phone or physically, this, however, depends on the company and their recruitment policy. The caliber, confidence, language command, potential, interest, etc. are the elements and skills that are checked in this interview. Also, the minimum eligibility criteria are checked. When applying for a job, a person sends an application to the respective company or the concerned person. The HR department receives applications from the candidates. The examinations are done to check the ability of the employee. Here we are talking about the physical and mental ability. It is checked whether the employee is able to perform the work or not. The stage of this step is not fixed, some companies ask the candidate at the beginning to submit their medical reports while some ask it at the end. A healthy employee will be able to work more and bring more efficiency to his or her work. Also, the number of absenteeism will be less and the quality of the work will be high. Due to this reason, a medical examination is conducted by the companies.
Final selection is done when a candidate clears all the rounds of a selection or hiring process. This is the step where the candidate is made aware of his or her selection. So, once an employment test, interview, medical checkup, reference check, etc. is done the employee is sent an appointment letter and offer letter through emails and also a hard copy is handed over to the employee.
This appointment and offer letter confirm the selection of the person. This letter contains the person’s name, designation, salary, date of joining, working hours, leave policy, resignation policies, termination conditions, etc. A candidate must thoroughly read the letters before signing them. If a candidate is hired on probation, it is written in the letter. Also, some companies mention their increment policy in the offer letter. After everything is completed, the candidate can start their job on the date of joining as per discussion in the interview or as mentioned in the offer letter.
Along with being lengthy, it is also a complex and time-consuming process. A candidate needs to clear all these rounds in order to get employed.
